Modern and stylish floors: how to get a magazine house

For A&A, we took care of the entire supply of floor and wall coverings for their home. From the choice of materials through to installation. A long road, but with a truly extraordinary result. A home with elegant, modern floors, skilfully combined with designer furnishings.

Marble-effect flooring for the living room and kitchen

The kitchen and living room are a single open space, in which we laid polished marble-effect porcelain stoneware tiles in the 90×180 size. The white background with light grey veining gives the room luminosity and makes it feel even larger. The laying was carried out following the veining of the tile, trying to give an orderly movement to the interior floor.

Natural stone wall tiles for the living room wall

The living room wall is the real star of this open space: as soon as you walk through the door, there it is. It immediately catches your eye thanks to the brightness and delicacy of natural stone.

The suspended staircase with glass parapet becomes a decorative element of the room, letting you see all the beauty of the stone and its colours.

The chosen colours of the stone are in perfect harmony with the rest of the furnishings: white, black and grey. This is how to give a touch of class to a wall, without falling into exaggeration.

The guest bathroom: grey and black for a modern touch

The guest bathroom is not very large, but we have made the most of the space, exploiting the long, narrow rectangular shape of the room.

We laid the following tiles:

  • walls: stone-effect stoneware, size 60×120, grey colour with matt surface; (for more info on the tile used, have a look at the product sheet)
  • floor:stone effect porcelain stoneware, size 60×60 anthracite colour;
  • shower enclosure: matt wall-effect stoneware, 30×60 format in grey (the same as the wall tiles).

Although the colours are dark and the bathroom is small, with the half-covering and the white wall, the space is brighter and more open. The wall-mounted bathroom cabinet also gives space to the floor, giving the impression that everything is bigger.

The master bathroom: a mix of marble and wood effect

The bathroom on the first floor is sensational: the right balance of different colours and materials. Here’s how to achieve a cosy, warm and at the same time refined bathroom.

Here are the tiles used:

  • walls: polished marble-effect stoneware, size 90×180; white background with brown veining.
  • floor: wood-effect stoneware, size 20×120, dark brown with staggered laying.

The elegance and refinement of marble blend with the warmth of wood effect. Every tile has its rightful value in this bathroom: none takes away from the other. The dark floor tiles enhance the brilliance of the wall tiles; the shiny wall tiles enhance the wood-effect stoneware by reflecting it.

A warm and welcoming bedroom: wood-effect flooring and exposed beams

A bedroom with soft, muted colours, kissed by the natural light coming in through the large French window. The exposed beams on the ceiling create a modern contrast with the ebony-coloured wood-effect stoneware floor. The dark floor is enhanced by natural light and the spaciousness of the room. The installation follows the shape of the room to give a perception of more space.
